Our Company

DWA Aluminum Composites USA, Inc. is a producer of ceramic particulate reinforced, powder-metallurgy based Aluminum Metal-Matrix-Composites (Al MMCs).  We operate a fully equipped, serial production manufacturing facility that satisfies a growing number of demanding aerospace, defense and industrial applications.  With over 40 years of Al MMC manufacturing experience, the last 20 as a serial raw material and parts producer, DWA-USA’s sole focus is to provide its customers with the highest quality aluminum and ceramic particulate reinforcement compositions tailored to outperform conventional metallics and organic matrix composites.  DWA-USA has more Al MMCs in service than any other producer, with each fielded application providing the end-user with acquisition or life-cycle cost improvement.

U2 spy plane begins flying Al MMC electronic equipment racking, replacing carbon fiber composite

Defense Production Act Title II program awarded to expand US industrial base for Al MMCs

1995

6092/SiC/17.5p Al MMC selected by Pratt & Whitney for PW4000 engine fan exit guide vanes, the first commercial aerospace application for Al MMCs

1996

6092/SiC/17.5p becomes first Al MMC chosen by the USAF for F-16 Fighting Falcon service life extension

1998

2009/SiC/15p rotating part forgings become first Al MMC used for “safety-of-flight” parts on helicopter main rotors

Aluminum Metal-Matrix-Composites

DWA-USA Al MMCs are based on a proprietary powder metallurgy process of blending, vacuum degassing and hot pressing. The conventional, secondary metalworking processes of extrusion, forging and rolling are employed to create a wide variety of semi-finished and finished product forms. Improved, isotropic strength- and stiffness-to-weight and fatigue resistance are the key distinguishing features of Al MMCs compared to legacy aerospace aluminum alloys. DWA-USA Al MMCs are in their third decade as a serial production, advanced aluminum alloy for a growing number of demanding aerospace and defense applications.
